Thank you to all who replied to my post asking about how well my rugosa may (or may not) do in the shade. I was all for doing what everyone suggested and trying it out in the shady spot until I discovered that even after it had rained the ground there was pretty dry. So, I opted for a different spot, one which I think will be better for the rugosa in the long run. It gets plenty of sun, will be well watered when it rains, and it has room to spread out. I bought it in a container, so it looks pretty full already, even though it’s still fairly small. I’ve put a picture of the Blanc Double De Courbet behind a cut, for your viewing pleasure. Cheers!
