Now, my tomatoes are doing wonderfully-someone once told me tomatoes are hard to grow, but they must be my "thing" as I've never had much of a problem with them-they always grow and always produce. The cilantro is growing like gangbusters, but it's starting to grow some stalks rather than just the leafy stems I'd expected-is this normal? Chives are doing great, as are the basil plants (both Thai and sweet Italian). My zinnias are shooting up like weeds, but that's to be expected with zinnias-they're hard to mess up! No flowers yet, but I figure another month (they're about 4" to 6" tall now, and the seed pack said they get 24" to 36" tall, so at least another month).
I'm pulling out the dead peas and planting cucumbers in tomorrow. Not sure what to replace where the lettuce is (we'll be eating that next week when the family comes to visit from the UK), it's only a square foot, so nothing too big-any suggestions? I'm going to try another type of pepper where the Thai chili dead pepper plant is-maybe it's just that sort of plant itself that isn't compatible with my location/raised bed/whatever.... Any suggestions (we love hot peppers, tomatoes and cilantro-total salsa junkies!).
You can see the lovely baby tomatoes coming-there are about 15 of them already!
And the Roma tomatoes are looking lovely too!
One of the 4 remaining pea plants, but it's producing just fine!
And my not-quite-blue berries...
