Valentines savings

If you are flexible you can save some money with these tips for a long distance Valentines day Most often the cheapest way to send flowers is not FTD or any other of the flower delivery services. Call the nearest florist to your sweetie and use a credit card, or this early you can send a check. Most will have free delivery, saving you anywhere from $5 to $20. Check a few online yellow pages for the area as well as googling the store name once you find it, they may well have coupons or internet discounts even ask. I find a store that has a few locations in a given area often have better specials than a store with just one location. Don’t have them delivered in a vase this can save you $5-$15, most people have a vase and most often the one the send is ugly. Let them pick the color for you. If they buy in bulk they may have a better deal on something other than red, let them pick at the last moment you can save some money. Think of something other than “long stemmed” spay roses, or tea roses often cost less and have more bang for your buck because they have more blooms per stem. Roses are at top price then, another flower may be just as wanted and cost less. If the store is local to you they will often deliver your greeting card with the flowers for free, you can also mail them one inside a bigger envelope and have them include it. Some places charge extra for filler, I find ferns, and baby’s breath can often cheapen the look of an arrangement, but only you know how your sweetie feels. If you can have them delivered the day before or early in the day they stand a chance of being fresher and not having spent time in a cold or hot van. Many places will take the thorns off for free but only do this if you ask. Roses in bud will last longer than those in bloom. If your not so worried about a classy box a gift of flowers delivered from the local supermarket can save you big bucks and you can add, cookies, wine, fruit, candy all for the same small delivery charge, (some people love this option others think its cheap) Every year I send my mum (from the shop around the corner from her) 14 roses for Valentines day, a dozen pink and 2 white to symbolize my sister and I.
