vegetable gardening without a vegetable garden
I've decided that this year is too soon for me to start a serious vegetable garden bed that is isolated from the rest of our garden, half of which surrounds the house and hugs the walls. The rest of our 'garden' lines a fence along the driveway and is dominated by trees, bushes, and shrubs. However, I would still like to plant some vegetables in the area that has already been devoted to gardens. I know that herbs can grow productively among flowers and shrubs, but I'd like to add other vegetables. I'm just not sure what I need to know about this before I start madly pushing seeds into the ground. Can anyone offer resources? I have googled [planting vegetables alongside flowers], but coming up with a good search string is a challenge. I'll take book recommendations as well as personal experience.
