vermicomposting + garden/landscape planning

vermicomposting + garden/landscape planning

It's spring! *eyes cloud cover/radar* Ok, not really, but I live in hope that's going to happen eventually! And now that we've taken the house off the market, we've got a whole list of things we'd like to do to the yard. One of the things I'd like to set up is a worm composter. I've googled, and there's 438 links out there, all with the same basic info. Are there any specific links that you thought were especially informative, or useful, or just plain cool? I'm especially interesting in the build-it-yourself option, but would like to see kits and whole systems/setups for comparison. Is there such thing as garden planning software? Not so much the 'plant what when', but the 'plant what where', with an option for some sort of outdoor living space (deck, patio, something-we haven't decided yet). Like this, only for gardens. Hee! Hubby, looking over my shoulder, is in favor of the vermicomposting-he say's it'll keep him in nightcrawlers for fishing! eta: Do the worms winter over well, or do you have to restart each spring? I'm in zone 7b (just west of Norfolk VA) for reference.
