I have a pure wool winter coat. I haven't worn it for about 10 years (it's not a style I care for), but now I may have to. It's been in storage all that time, and just needs freshening up a bit, but the label says "no machine wash, dry clean only". If I were to risk running it through the gentle wool cycle on my machine (30 degrees C, suitable for wool sweaters), what's the worst that could happen to it? Failing that, is there anything else I might try to freshen it up? EDIT: Thanks for all your responses. :) Definitely not going to put it in the machine! We don't have a dryer, so I can't try any of those suggestions; I'm going to give it a good airing and brush down first (possibly with baking soda after a spot test), and if that doesn't work I'll give it a very gentle hand-wash.
