What I did last night
I cleared out this horrible patch of weeds near the deck in the backyard. You can see some that are mashed in with the soil. It's not perfect, but it's sooooooooooooooooooooo much better than before. Next year, this little patch of flower bed should be rockin'. Of course, I forgot to take before pictures, but my hard work is under the cut. I planted lavender, Phlox, Russian Sage, two Delphiniums, a Black Eyed Susan, two Shasta Daisies, Pink Coneflower, a pepper plant and a cherry tomato plant. I also threw in some sunflower seeds behind the plants, closest to the deck. If they take, great. If not, it's not the end of the world. I still need to plant the marigolds that I bought since I know that the plants won't be in full-filled-out-color this year. I also have some Nicotina to plant and a cilantro plant. It was 9:30 when I finished last night and I stopped because I couldn't see. The thing that I noticed is Ohio's soil has so much more clay in it than Michigan's (where I grew up). It's red and tough. I threw a bunch of it aside and used topsoil because it was ridiculous. Phew.
