what is it?

what is it?

at the end of last summer, i found this plant sitting next to our dumpster. it was in desperate need of a repotting, and after doing that that it has looked the same as the day that i found it. i keep it in a sunny room, but it's not directly in a window. occasionally one of the leaves will brown and i pull it off. i remember that the roots were thick and a light green, kind of like the phalaenopsis orchid that i have. any ideas?
