So in addition to some seedlings I started the more traditional way, I also decided to plant some basil seeds in a pot which I had lying around. I watered it and put it on a windowsill without an open window. Things have started to sprout, but now I’m totally confused.
As you can see, there are various things starting to grow. I think basil has two cotyledons, which are still very small and at soil level (I think you can see a few of them), so what’s with the tall single sprouts?
When starting this pot, I dumped out everything that was in it before, then filled it with potting soil. I only planted basil seeds. So what else is growing? Could that have resulted from the potting soil?
