My husband and I bought our first house in Maynard, MA back in February. We don’t have a huge yard, but there’s enough to keep us busy. I know a little about gardening (enough to know I don’t know much), but I don’t recognize many of the perennials that are emerging now that the weather is warming. I was hoping this community could help, and I took some pictures:

But what are these large leaves?

And are these irises by the front door?

The raised bed in the backyard is full of wonders:

This has thin, green and white varigated leaves, tinged with pink:

Is this a weed or a plant worth keeping?

These are interesting:

Another bulb of some kind?

And one last interesting one:

Bonus question:
I pruned a huge rosebush and have these branches with buds on them. Can they be forced to bloom, or rooted, or should I just toss them in with the rest of the yard waste?
I do like gardening, so I planted a bunch of stuff, too. I have 2 new rose bushes in addition to the 2 existing ones, a couple of white hydrangeas, some rain lilies and a big red dahlia, plus about 25 different kinds of seeds. I started some in peat pots a bit ago, so I have oriental poppies, hollyhocks, cosmos, echinacea, and delphiniums poking their little heads out, too. I’m so excited that it’s spring!
