This is the second year I’m attempting potatoes. The first one was interrupted by the neighbor’s dog.
Now my problem is that they seem to be doing so well I can’t keep them covered. I noticed this:
It seems they have sprouted. Some new potatoes are way above ground. Here is the bed:
I’ve gone in with a mix of mulch, top soil, and peat moss to bury them three times so far, but I didn’t expect that I might have to cover them with two feet of dirt to protect the growing tubers from sun.
Should I trim them back? I don’t want to disrupt the ones that are in the ground already. Pruning? Any similar experiences?
