Wildflowers Make People Crazy

Wildflowers Make People Crazy

Maybe this isn't a gardening topic, but hey, flowers! I've included bluebonnet seeds in my seedball mix, so I'm going to post this here. After two years of drought, the bluebonnets (Lupinus spp.) have just exploded all over central Texas. My aunt works at the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center and tells me that this is a very unusual year for them. Bluebonnets usually aren't this numerous and the plants usually aren't as tall as they seem to be this spring. I was up near Inks Lake State Park last weekend and snapped a couple of photos. I should have taken more, but I wasn't the only person with a camera. It's amazing how people go crazy for these things. I saw tons of people just pull their cars off the road to photograph their kids sitting in fields of flowers.
