Wildflowers

Wildflowers

A friend of mine commented that they liked wood violets and wished they could grow them in their garden. I have thought about it, and it seems like a good idea. The problem being, where to find wild violets.

The list of wild violets goes on and on, but the ones my friend seeks are probably one of these three:
  • Viola riviniana
  • Viola canina
  • Viola lactea
Now I have done a bit of searching on the internet, and I can't say I have had much luck so far in finding sources for seeds. I can find viola tricolor, which is the old standard, the "johnny jump-up" but that's not what I am after.

Do any of you... loyal viewers of the LiveJournal Gardening community... know of any way I could obtain some wild violet seeds so I might assist a friend in their appreciation of the plant world?
