Winter Prep Work, too late?
So, I didn't do some of the winter prep work I meant to. I wanted to newspaper/tarp where we'd like to build our two gardens this Spring and we just.. never did. Is it too late? Any recommendations for what I should do? I live in Zone 7, clay soil that will need to be heavily amended for vegetables. The original plan was to newspaper/bark/tarp the 2 sections (one for an herb garden the other for a 2 tier, very large veggie garden) and then mix the soil once the ground warmed up in April. Should I just wait and buy what I'd need? Anyone else in similar conditions and what did you do to make your soil more habitable? We'll be doing our own lawn care as well this Spring instead of paying True Green, since our dog is allergic to something they sprayed. I'm nervous!! It seems fairly simple, though and -cost effective- which is nice! I said last year we'd do a lot more in the yard and we never did, mostly due to dogs eating up all our play money (both had a surgery last year, oiy) so dangit... this year my resolution is to get our yard looking like it belongs in a magazine! Or something like that. Apologies for the seemingly newbie question (and rambling :X)!
