I have a worm composting mystery. I have my worms in a black plastic covered bin in the top of a closet. The conditions seem excellent, not too wet, not too dry, good food to bedding ratio, etc. But there have been three times that I've walked into the room where the worm bin is to find a worm wiggling around on the floor. The shelf the worm bin is on is about 6 feet high. When I open the bin to put the worm back, the conditions inside seem fine and there are no worms climbing up the sides, for instance, which would indicate otherwise. Has anyone else ever had this happen with a worm bin? Worms don't like light, so why would they be leaving their nice, dark little bin to climb/drop down 6 feet onto the floor in the bright sunlight? Any ideas on what I can do to stop these little suicide missions? Thanks!
