So, today I got some news that my roomates will be moving at the end of march! Although we will now have to pick up their half of the rent I recently got a decent paying job (start on monday!) and am wondering if anyone has any experience with indoor gardening?! I was pretty upset thinking about the future and how long it will be before we can buy our own house that my lovely fiancee came up with the idea to turn our bedroom into a grow room since we will be moving into the larger room once they leave. This is all guesstimation. The room is about 15 feet by 15, maybe smaller, with about a 9 foot ceiling and there is one window, but I have no idea which direction it faces. There is NO ceiling light, pain in the ass btw! Problem.. I cannot install anything into the walls or ceiling, because this is a rental, so I was thinking of maybe building a table with posts that has a top on it to screw lights in. I'l like to grow carrots and maybe potatoes to start with. I'm open to pre started plants since I have never grown anything but pumpkins before and these sickly garlic chives I have :P How deep would the containers have to be? Does anyone have any (or know any websites with) buliding plans for a table simmilar to my thoughts, or if you have a better Idea..? How would I find out what types of lights are best to buy and how long to leave them on? I would appreciate any and all information, advice or suggestion! I'm a newbie so this idea may be completly stupid, I won't be offended if you tell me so. Thanks!
