A rather odd question that’s sorta garden related
I am hoping to get some advice from others who may have had problems with birds. I have a couple of hanging baskets on my patio, and while outside reading earlier, I noticed my strawflower basket was...moving. Upon closer inspection, I saw some moss and twigs hanging out of the sides of the basket! When I got closer, I startled the Dark-Eyed Junco out of the basket, and she was quite upset with me. She looked like she was going to peck my eyes out, so I waited a few moments, scared her far enough away to grab the basket, then proceeded to clean it up. As much as I love birds, I really don't want a protective mother Junco making a nest in the basket right next to my front gate. Is there anything I can do to discourage her from re-nesting in the basket? I placed a couple of objects in the basket so that it would be difficult for her to get back in there and moved it to a less sheltered location (it was hanging next to an awning). I love birds and everything; I just don't want them making homes in my plants!
