brutal summer in Texas 7b…how are you holding up?
This summer's been unusually awful; we're heading into our 8th straight day of 100+ degree temps and the 16th day in the summer of triple digits...summer is always hot in Dallas-Fort Worth, but this is worse than usual. I've got a lot of new shrubs that were only put in a month or 2 ago, and I'm doing a LOT of evening/morning watering just to keep things alive. My hydrangeas and four o'clocks are wilted, but alive. My eyelash and pineapple sages wilt, then bounce back. My roses are blooming but the blooms crisp in place on the stem just like they had been dried. My vitex is limp but green. Oddly enough, my duranta is loving it. Perhaps not so oddly, my lantana love it too. How are the rest of you in my area handling the superhot snap?
