cats and cancer

cats and cancer

the previous post inspired me to ask here about my pet problems. my mother's cat most likely has skin cancer - hes a white cat and his ears look like they're literally rotting away. it could also just be an infection though but because of the costs of cancer testing (biopsy, then coming back for another visit and checking out his innerards if the biopsy comes up positive, then removal, then coming back and testing again, then going from there if it's spread anywhere else, etc) the vet initially just gave her medicine for the infection and said if that cleared it up, then we wouldn't have to go through all the cancer testing. so we tried that and it didn't work but we really don't have the money so we went back and decided on trying another medicine for infection. needless to say, that's still not working so unfortunately, its most likely cancer. so my question is, has anyone else been in a similar situation with a pet with cancer? i mean, we don't want to wait too long because it CAN spread to the rest of his body, especially his organs if not treated in time but again, we can't really afford to help him ASAP as much as we'd like. does anybody have any tips on finding cheap vet care or helping a cat with cancer? how did you do it? what did you do? any advice/experiences shared would be strongly appreciated. thanks.
