Cheap Cell Phone

Cheap Cell Phone

Virgin Mobile is awesome for poor folk. You can get a track phone option, for $6.99 a month plus fees and whatever minutes you buy. The minutes roll over, so it's a good deal if you just need a cell phone for emergencies and quick calls. I talk to my mom for about an hour once a week, so it's worth it for me to get a monthly plan. Mine is $24.99 plus fees. I get 200 anytime minutes, plus 500 nights (after 7) and weekends, but I can buy more minutes if it's a weird month. This is adequate for me as my only phone. There are more expensive tiers with more minutes. You can get a texting plan, or pay 10 cents per text. You can even get a data plan, although I have no idea whether it's good or worth it. Virgin is clearly focusing on a market of people who want no-frills phone service on the cheap, and I love them for it! There is no contract (!!!) You have to buy your phone, but mine cost only $14.99 (on sale.) It has no features, but the reception is excellent. There are also more expensive models with bluetooth, cameras, keyboards, etc. I get signal everywhere (except in those places where *nobody* gets signal, like in the mountains.)
