Choosing Insurance Options
Are there guidelines as to how to choose the appropriate insurance? My husbands annual enrollment for work is coming up and we're trying to choose. Some background info is we struggle every month just to pay our very basic bills. We're currently on the $300.00 deductible/co-pay plan (though it didn't have the deductible until this year). When someone becomes sick we worry a lot about how much it's going to cost because just coming up with the $30.00 co-pay not to mention the bill for the other 25% we know is coming. We're all generally healthy and in the past only visit the dr's office a few times a year. Here's my options. This is for two adults and three kids. $300 deductible/co-pay plan. Costs $277 a month $1000 deductible plan Costs $183.00 a month $2000 deductible plan (this plan also gives you $300.00 upfront to go towards medical expenses for the year) costs $107.00 a month No matter what I choose it's going to be hard to come up with the deductible. And going with a plan that costs a little less would really help us out financially.
