Credit card question
Hi everyone Here is my story. In August one of my cards (citibank) was way over, and I called them and asked If I could pay in parts. The woman on the other end was nice, said that they "can offer me an option where I wouldn't be able to use my credit line for 5 months, and will have to make set payments every month" but that should get me out of that hole. I said yes, and paid the set amount ( i think it was 200?) every month. So then, in January, after making the 5th payment I call them, and the woman is like, you just need to make this one last minimum payment, and you're all set. She takes my payment over the phone and tells me I can use the card in 24 hours. Yeah, no, never happens. I call back. The new person tells me that I need to make three on-time minimal payments to reopen my account - at this point I'm like, how come noone told it was going to be closed??? I swear, no such word was ever said to me. so i'm like ok. I call back in three months. They re-enter all kinds of information, blah blah and then send me a letter about how my payments should be "significantly more than the minimum" for them to "consider" my account for reopening, contact us in 6 months. WTF? I mean, if "your call may be recorded for quality control" perhaps it's time to pull up those old calls? I really want to call them and be mad and get something out of this - at least lower my ridiculous %29 apr if not re-open the account that i was never told was gonna be closed. Do you guys have any tips for such conversations? And thanks for reading my venting.
