different tastes

Several years ago now I planted a couple ofPenstemon "Husker Red" in the beds of the house next door and in my current garden. Penstemon is a native (tho not to here, and this is a cultivar) and attracts hummingbirds so I have serveral different kinds. Husker red is nice because it has dark bronze/red leaves and white flowers, so it adds some foliage contrast to my otherwise mostly all green flower beds. so I have moved out of the house next door but I left most of my plants there for the 80 year old lady who moved in after me. She asked me (again) what the penstemon was, and said she saw it for $15 at the nursery and couldn't believe anyone would pay so much for such an ugly plant. She doesn't subscribe to the idea that the leaves are as much of the garden as the flowers are, she likes your basic big showy daisies and things. So maybe I will go remove it for her and move it over to my yard, and then she will have room for the zinnas that she wants to put in.. I don't think I paid $15 but I dont think it was cheap either. But, mine are now seeding around and I have a bunch of them :) (cross posted to my journal)
