Don’t Ask How This Happened Because I Have No Idea!
This afternoon I was admiring my Lemon Verbena babies (especially the flowering one) and I had to hose nasty Aphids off Charlie's Rose. It was while I was washing Charlie down that I noticed a new plant, next to my flowering baby Verbena. I weeded that section just a few days ago and it definitely wasn't there when I did that - so it's just recently sprung up. Well, the leaves looked a little herb-like so I rubbed one and smelled the scent it left on my fingers. I then got my fiance to come and do the same so that he could confirm my suspicions if I was right. I was right. I have the beginnings of a Rosemary bush! We have no clue how this sapling got there; OH has an adult Rosemary bush, but that's way over the other side of the garden to my patch. Maybe a bird dropped a Rosemary seed, but if that happened it didn't come from OH's bush since there haven't been any seeds there. I'm not complaining though; I wanted a shrub border with a few herbs in and this was a completely unexpected bonus!
