HELP! overdraft fees!!!
I'm sure you have heard this before, but I need some concrete advice, and I thought mabe I could get it here. I have made mistakes in the past with my TD BankNorth account. I have gotten over draft fees before. I have paid them. I'm not sure if I am in "good standing" with the bank or not. I Have stopped using my BankNorth card because of this. I have a credit union and I love it. Yesterday I randomly went to a bank north ATM to see how much $$ I had in the account. The ATM ate my card. This morning I called the back to see what was going on. Turns out my card has been cancelled. My electric bill automatically is paid each month. I honestly thought I had switching which account it got paid from (over to my credit union) I guess I didn't. My account went negative, and because of BankNorths over draft fees system I owe then over $400. My account had gone into collections. I never got any mail telling me this. I would have paid it earlier if I had realized what was going on. In my mind I had stopped using the card... so I wasn't concerned about it. I don't know what to do. I don't have $400 to pay this. Yes, I messed up. I should have been paying closer attention. But really? I'm in collections? $400 in overdraft fees? No Mail telling me this? HELP!!! What can I do!?!?! Is "collections" part of Bank North? I read about people having some/ all of the fees waved, ut am i too far gone in the process? Have they turned my account over to an agency... Who hasn't contacted me about this situation either by the way!!! I think I'm going to be sick. Please, any advice? I know I screwed up. I know I should be better with my money.... But I really can't handle this!!! Can I dispute this? This is playing into my anxiety and I'm going to have a panic attack. What do I say to them? Is there any hope of taking care of this without having to pay these fees? TIA, -K
