Herbs and their best sources.
My housemate and I spent many hours wandering through nurseries this weekend with little to no success. We have moved into a house with a front and back yard, and the owners are allowing us to plant a garden. Some things can be started from seed, but as you know there are many plants who do come up true when started from seed. Dispite many hours spent in the sun battling nasty nursery workers (I didn't think they existed before this, I'm used to little places run by sweet grey old women, the kind of place which has a cat lounging in a shady corner- but I live just outside of LA, and most of them have been driven out of business) and sun glare, we either did not find many of the herbs that we would like to grow, or when we did find them either the plant quality was lacking or it was quite expensive. So. On-line searching begins. To this end, I ask of you- who, in your ever so knowledgeable opinions, sells the best variety and quality of herbs for reasonable prices on-line? Who holds the golden apple? Who is the mecca of all herb sellers? And last... who should I avoid at all cost? edited to add I am in Reseda, deep in the wilds of the San Fernando Valley just outside of Los Angeles. This places me around zone 8-9 and up depending on who you ask.
