How I make it each month

How I make it each month

Hi there, I’m not new to the community per say but I am new as in I joined up today. Any way my poor skills tip is Aldis I don’t know if this has been mentioned here but I use the place all the time. Yeah its cheap stuff and not the highest grades of meats and what not but if you are looking to save a few bucks it’s a good place to go and you can get a lot there for little money. My other tip is learning to cook well. I don’t mean take a cooking class or anything but there are free recipes all over the net so if you have access here you can access the recipes. Ok don’t go looking for prime steak cut recipes but look for ground beef entrees. I learned to cook in a cheap ol’ grocery store where we had to use.. well lets say cheaper meats.. then what was sold to the public. However if you marinade it or spice it right it all tastes good. I know a lot of people will say I can’t cook or don’t like to cook or what ever. Cooking is the cheapest and go for the left overs they can last you days. I know all this sounds common sense but looking through past posts I had not seen this mentioned. If I am wrong then some one can delete this. Also if you are in need there are usually food kitchens or churches that can help out with bread or canned goods every now and then. Where I work now a lady brings in bread and bagels every week from her church for the rest of us to take home. It’s not bad to ask for help. The pride issue has to fall to the side when you are poor(as in to proud to ask for help). Many grocery stores will sell day old bread at good discounts so look into them. If you are lucky to live in a city like I do (Chicago) you can find bakery outlet stores that have cheap bread and other things as well. Every one has a rough time no and then sometimes it lasts longer. Yes discount places like the big W are good and no I don’t want rants on it the MOD or who ever said stop. Also most grocery stores have things that are at or near the sell by date. That does not mean its spoiled but by law they can’t sell them past that date. Many of them will have discount bins for these items so that they can get rid of them instead of eating the costs. If you don’t see one ask the manager or the help desk they will show you them or tell you what you can do. Soup is another cheap way to make a lot of food with little work. Just get a big pot and cheap meat or veggie if that is your like and store the extras. Again many stores will have veggies that are not in the best of shape and will sell them cheaper then normal. They make fine soup. Check out local produce markets and or farm stands. For those in the country you can always find some one wanting to get rid of their over producing veggies. Its not great being poor but it can be ok and at times it can be fairly fun. If all of this is just repeat ramble please ignore me and go on about your day. (EDIT) This is not agism but a good idea Ask the Elderly where they shop often times they can tell you good bargin places and times for the best deals
