killing bugs with soap

killing bugs with soap

Hi - I have some hanging containers w/ plants in them that made it through the winter(vincas, snap dragons etc), some in better shape than others. But they made it through with a lot of bugs, and I had a lot of bug trouble last year. To kill the bugs on the plants and in the dirt, I'm thinking of filling a large bucket w/ soap & water, & some neem & immersing the container - plants and all. My questions are - Can I use grey-water soap & water from my handwash (I use Dr. Bronner soap), or does the soap lose some of its bug killing propety if it has been used? Does anybody have any reccomendations about good soap to use for this? I have 7th Generation dishwashing soap & Dr. Bronner. Also - how long a period of immersion do you suppose it takes to kill bugs? (mostly aphids) thank you! hope everyone is gu HT
