“lady in red” hydrangeas?

hi guys - do any of you have experience with "lady in red" hydrangeas? i just had a bunch of landscaping done this spring, and the landscaper recommended one... i was so excited when i saw photos of them, because i'd never seen a bright red hydrangea before (all my others are the standard pink/purple/white). it's been growing pretty well, but i'm just starting to see a glimpse of some buds and they're looking... pale pink. i don't know if it's my soil, or the fact that the plant is "stressed" from being transplanted, or the plant itself was bred to have non-red blooms (if that's possible with this breed). any thoughts? i was really hoping for bright red flowers. meh.
