I found out yesterday that one of my roommates is planning on breaking our lease and moving out (we have about 5 months left). This doesn't work out well for the other 2 of us as A) we probably won't be able to afford to split the rent 2 ways, and B) we both want to move out of the area within a year or so, so we don't want to get tied into another year lease. Kind of vague but... what does this mean for those of us who are staying? Are we required to pay the entire amount of rent or is she still responsible since she signed the lease? I don't want to be a dick about it, but I think she should pay rent until we find someone else to move in. She isn't even telling us when she plans on moving out though, so we can't really find someone else to move in yet. Can we force her to continue to pay rent (she did sign the lease), or are we pretty much screwed? What are the chances of our landlord cutting the remaining two of us some slack?
