nyc museums poor skills styles

I certainly don't live in the cheapest city in the world. I need to find inexpensive ways of entertaining myself because I'm not paying 11.00 to see a movie! I like museums. While my boyfriend and I were out in the hamptons (certainly not a poor skills friendly place) I discovered in one of the galleries a monthly publication called "nyc guide to museums" It normally costs $4.95 but most galleries give it away for free. I've seen it at galleries in manhattan as a freebie too. The cool thing is that it had coupons for 2 for 1 admissions for muesums, it has a guide in the back that lists all museums, the admissions, when their suggested donation/free days hours are. Now if I had the money I would pay full admission but I don't. I'll leave it to the corporate sponsers. One of the greatest museums in the world, the metropolitian museum of art is suggested donation! yippie. A good place also to look for discount admission is on subway ads. I noticed an advertisment for the brooklyn museum offering two for one admission when you show the metrocard. Then my boyfriend and I split the price and paid 3.00 dollars instead of six a piece. Also go to a token booth clerk, request a subway map and in it there is a coupon good until december 21st for the transit museum in brooklyn. again another 2fer. Not culturally related but many people are unaware of a discount movie house located in the basement of the virgin megastore in times square. It's the loews state cineplex and offers a movie ticket for 5.50 intead of the usual 10 or 11 dollars. The movies are only a few months old, sometimes a month old! hope this helps Jillian
