Pay-as-you-go cell phones
I'm going to be spending three months in the US. Vermont to be precise. I'm looking to get a pay-as-you-go cell phone for when I'm there in order to keep in touch with my boyfriend through SMS messages and maybe the odd phone call home to the UK. Mainly because my UK cell phone doesn't work in VT and secondly, the last time I used my phone in the US, I managed to run up a $400+ phone bill in 10 days just by calling US numbers for flights/hostel bookings/home etc. Looking at the coverage for companies I can find on the internet, it looks like Sprint and Verizon are my best bet for coverage where I'm going to be but I can't find any details about price plans. Can someone tell me any more info about pros/cons, price plans, costs for sending and receiving SMS (I'm going to get an international calling card for long phonecalls home). Also, how much can I expect to pay for a cell phone + sim?
