I have such a black thumb, but I'm trying my first attempt at gardening in a little plot at my community garden this year. So I decided to plant beets to pickle later on. I keep trying to grow seedlings but keep killing them. I have planted the seeds in seed starter soil, the first time in a window planter, the second time was in little peat pots. They are positioned in a window with a good amount of sun. The little things shoot up and they are beautiful, then they wilt and die. Should I not water them? I watered them after they sprouted, not a lot, just covering the surface and letting it sink in. Am I killing them by watering them? I have a few soybean seeds that are sprouting, and now I'm terrified to water them.
