Some Clarifications: What I’ve Tried

Some Clarifications: What I’ve Tried

Okay, so i realize my post was WAAAAAY too vague..so, the details: I'm MALE and 25 yrs old-this means no age restrictions apply to me. I live in Austin, TX where the unemployment rate is 4.2% I was a college student-dropped out due to $$ issues-going back hopefully this fall. I'm about 2 semesters away from finishing up. My job experience has been primarily in Education (I want to teach)and retail crapola. I DO NOT own a car. I have a resume-actually several for different fields. I have no arrest record, and have never been dismissed from a job. I have a pretty consistent work history. I have no piercings, visible ink, dyed hair, or other mods. I have excellent hygiene and am always presentable and well mannered. I've been told that if, anything, I'm too assertive, not timid. I call every place back after applying, at least once. WHAT I'VE TRIED SO FAR: Asking all friends (no relatives here in Austin)..this produced no results. Job Banks like Craigslist, Monster, etc..this has been pretty hit or miss. Classified Ad's..also hit or miss. Hitting every place I could walk to (this is my most common tactic_..so-so. Temp Agencies-They did'nt find me anything. State Workforce Commission..USELESS. WHAT I HAVE NOT TRIED: Union Hiring Halls-TX is very anti-union, and there are no hiring halls here. Headhunter-does'nt really work if you're not a CPA or something, and too much $$. Looking through the phone book trick-seems stupid and of limited usefullness. Day Labor-only one local dropoff site, not reachable by foot or bus. Trade JournalsnNot relevant. Randomly sending out resume-don't have the time to play that game.
