Things I’ve Learned This Spring

Things I’ve Learned This Spring

1. Don't try to transplant seedlings before they get their true leaves (not just the first leaves, a.k.a. cotyledons). It kills them. At least, it did when I tried it. Oops. 2. To steal from the movie Spanglish: "Listen to your mother: she knows it all." My mom knows a heck of a lot. 3. Sometimes you just have to wait a long time for seeds to germinate. I thought my watermelon seeds had died, and then they came poking up just as I was losing hope. 4. Spring is unofficially over, here in Victoria. It's not quite warm enough to really be summer, but I've been informed that it's much too late to plant onions, and getting to be too late for potatoes, too. 5. Google and the WestCoast Seeds catalogue are my best friends. Now, the sun is just on its way down, so I'm going to take some photos in the gorgeous golden light. Maybe I'll get around to sharing them someday :)
