Transfer college loans to the credit card at a 0% APR
A few years ago I cashiered at WalMart. One time, a woman came through my line and bought all of her groceries except one gallon of milk with a check. She proceeded to buy the gallon of milk with her discover card. While running her credit card, she explained to me that after she graduated college, she called Discover and asked to close her account because she wasn't using it anymore. Instead of closing her account, they offered to transfer her college loans to the credit card at a 0% APR until they're paid off, as long as she continues to make at least one purchase per billing cycle with her credit card. Has anyone had a similar experience? Is this something I can call about? I'm graduating May 17 and would absolutely LOVE to do something with my Sallie Mae loan, I'm certainly not looking forward to paying 13% interest the $4,620 loan that I was forced to take out for rent this year :(. Thanks in advance for any advice!
