yogurt success

Voila!just wated to thank my poor skillers for such fine advice on the yogurt front. it WAS easy, and i didn't expect SUCH good results made the first batch yesterday--a quart jar full, and even though it was made with skim milk, came out thick and rich. it is a lil' scorched because i was an idiot who didn't stir the milk, but that is correctable. and since i'm so proud, i don't mind it (not bad w/ homemade granola!) i used 3.5 c of milk, instead of 4 to account for the extra starter and 1/3c dry milk--and it fit the jar perfectly. to incubate, i simply stuck it into my electric oven that i had warmed and then left it (turned on the oven again briefly like 3 hrs. later.) yay! okay--on sale, store-brand yogurt is minimum $2.00/qt. my yogurt--made with on-sale milk (2.00 gallon) was about $.65/qt can't beat it. off to make a $.70 loaf of bread. holly b
